The
MG Car Shop is dedicated to Maintaining and
Restoring MGs and all British Sports Cars

Professor Fred Stoppelkamp's Story
My first car, as a teenager in the USAF in Denver , Colorado, was a 1957 MGA. I loved that car;however, it went South in 1962 after a "cross country" trip to visit my new wifes' parents (in Illinois). So I bought a new 1962 MGB. Over the years I've owned, and restored over 25 British Sports Cars. I love the way they "feel" on the road.

After taking about 15 years off from restoring Vintage British Sports Cars, I bought a 1980 MGB Limited Edition Roadster. Six months later I bought another 1980 MGB Roadster. After restoring them both to "pretty great" condition, I was test driving one on Macopin Road, and noticed The MG Shop owned by Phil Bove in West Milford. After meeting Phil, I decided to have him do a few projects that I wasn't interested in doing. I must say, he is "ONE TERRIFIC MECHANIC." Both MGB's are now PERFECT.
Since I wanted to learn a little more about repairing MGs which were older than mine (i.e. TDs,TFs,TCs,etc) I decided to hang around the MG Shop over the course of last summer. What an enjoyable experience that was. I was able to see cars Painted in Phils' Body Shop, and also observe many vintage MGs worked on in all sorts of ways ( one was from the early 1930's).
After being around Phil for the summer, I can truly say with all honesty that Phil is one of the best Mechanics that I've ever seen. He not only can fix anything on a car, but he is very creative in actually manufacturing parts which cannot be purchased anywhere. I encourage any of you to come and visit Phil for a great experience, and an upgrade for your vintage "toy". His prices are lower than you would expect, and the results are terrific.
Here is a little MGB humor for those that love the MGB.
Enjoy the Road....
